Os reis de Espanha casaram-se a 22 de Maio de 2004. Desde então já sobreviveram a crises na monarquia e no casamento, mas não há “divórcio à vista”, garantem os especialistas.

Na varanda do Palácio Real de Madrid, a 22 de Maio de 2004, a multidão pedia um beijo aos recém-casados, Felipe e Letízia. A noiva mostrou-se tímida e estendeu ao marido a bochecha, num momento que havia de ficar para memória póstuma. Passaram-se 20 anos, os então príncipes das Astúrias são agora reis de Espanha. Sobreviveram a escândalos reais, a uma subida apressada ao trono e até a rumores de traição. “Representam a coroa e a estabilidade do seu casamento é um assunto de Estado”, declara Alberto Miranda, autor de Plebeias a Princesas e Rainhas.
