From the comfort of her home, designer Lauren Manning has gotten into the habit of travelling with her iPad in her lap. With the precious help of Google Earth she managed to fly higher than any albatross and taking part in dives and ascents with the help of the zoom. ‘The urban areas have never fascinated me very much, I have always preferred finding patterns or minimalist traits in landscapes – be they natural or altered by agriculture’ the North American designer told us. She affirms that wanders without captions, therefore we hardly ever know where to find a pattern until you do and decide to capture it. However she ended up visiting our country more than once, between the golf courses in the Algarve and the salt lakes in Olhão. The designer hopes that these images share the feeling of respect for the scale of this planet and that those who look at the other images collected on tumblr Earth Patterns will feel humbled by the sheer scale of what is portrayed.
